Founded in 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska, the home goods and furniture retailer is still family operated while Warren Buffet owns a majority stake. It is further recognized as largest home furnishings store by square footage in North America.
In 2015, the company made a major expansion to DFW by building in the City by the Lake, The Colony. Stretching across 100 acres, this massive new Texas-sized home furnishings store is located off Sam Rayburn Tollway/Texas 121 in between Plano Parkway and W Spring Creek Parkway.
The store known as Nebraska Furniture Mart of Texas, features the largest selection of furniture, accessories, appliances, televisions, computers, carpet, area rugs, hard surface flooring and much more. Every inch of the 560,000 square foot retail showroom is designed to help shoppers find the home furnishings needed to improve lifestyles.
